Bokkeryers grew out of a conversation over lunch at a restaurant called Gasterie de Bokkeryer in Sweikhuizen, when brothers Pablo and Vince van de Poel and drummer Jordan Faber asked themselves why no one had ever made a Limburgish language metal band about the notorious 18th century bandits who reportedly rode goats through the South Limburg night. The answer, apparently, was that they just had to do it themselves. Pablo is also known as the guitarist of DeWolff, but Bokkeryers shares nothing with that band sonically. This is doom, sludge and thrash built around punishing riffs and thunderous rhythms, with lyrics sung entirely in the Limburgish dialect, packed with dark humour and self deprecation. The subject matter runs from ritual oaths and gallows to the grim fates of surgeons and skinners. Earplugs strongly recommended.
