Diggy Dex, the Amersfoort rapper born Koen Jansen, built his name as part of De Amersfoortse Coöperatie, a rap collective that broke through with the track Springstof and played Lowlands before releasing their second album Professioneel Chillen in 2005. When the group wound down, he stepped out on his own and has since put out a string of solo albums that blend rap with a distinctly Dutch warmth and storytelling sensibility. His 2009 remix Slaap lekker (Fantastig toch), flipping a song by Belgian singer Eva De Roovere, became a genuine crossover hit in both the Netherlands and Flanders. Albums like Golven, Karavaan and Carrousel cemented his reputation as one of the more thoughtful voices in Dutch hip hop, and he has collaborated with artists like Herman van Veen and Boudewijn de Groot along the way. Beyond rapping, he writes songs for other artists too, with credits for names like André Hazes jr., Suzan and Freek, and Guus Meeuwis.
