Dominum are a zombie themed power metal band from Nuremberg who lean hard into the concept: every member performs in masks, and the whole setup revolves around Dr. Dead, a mad scientist commanding a horde of zombies with surprisingly wholesome ambitions. Frontman Felix Heldt built the band around his love of The Walking Dead and The Last of Us, and musically he aimed to split the difference between Ghost and Sabaton. Their debut album Hey Living People landed in late 2023 via Napalm Records and hit number 18 in the German charts, mixing original tracks with covers of Billie Eilish, Dead or Alive and Midnight Oil. The follow up, The Dead Don't Die, went even further, reaching number 9 in Germany and featuring a Scorpions cover alongside a guest spot from Feuerschwanz's Ben Metzner. Support runs with Bruce Dickinson and Avantasia helped spread the word fast.
