Dutch Criminal Record & Hotel Mira

About

Dutch Criminal Record make sunny surf flavoured indie, all sparkling guitars, stacked vocal harmonies and melodies that stick. The trio comes from Chichester in England, and they blend sixties pop instincts with a modern indie and psychedelic twist. Their debut album, Novium, came out in 2024. Surf pop is the base, with indie and a bit of shoegaze creeping in around the edges, and the whole thing sounds built for car windows rolled down in summer. They have also built a reputation for a lively, infectious live show. Hotel Mira are a Canadian band who started out in raw garage rock and grew into one of the more noticeable names in alternative rock. Their indie rock is big and melodic, with rock band energy and a pop sense of drama, driven by sweeping choruses and sharp guitar hooks. The lyrics dwell on self reflection and imperfection. Their album Pity Party (2025) keeps the rock and roll urgency but adds more depth and storytelling. You can hear The Strokes, The Killers and Iggy Pop in there, in a sound that is both vulnerable and hard to resist.
