Lucinda Williams once called Fionn Regan "his generation's answer to Bob Dylan", which tells you a lot about the kind of weight this Bray born Irish songwriter carries. His 2006 debut, The End of History, landed on Bella Union and swept up four and five star reviews from The Times, The Guardian and Mojo, earning him comparisons to folk's great storytellers. He cites Dylan and Neil Young as his main touchstones, and that lineage runs clearly through his fingerpicked, stripped back sound. Regan has never stood still. His second and third albums explored darker, more atmospheric territory, while his fourth, The Bunkhouse Vol. 1: Anchor Black Tattoo, he described as feeling like "an Irish punk album" in its rawness. His fifth record, The Meetings of the Waters from 2017, surprised people by weaving electronica into his folk roots, and came with a music video starring Cillian Murphy. Along the way his songs have turned up in Grey's Anatomy, Skins and Normal People, and Welsh actor Rhys Ifans reportedly has a tattoo of his lyrics.
