About
Heartworms is the project of London born musician Jojo Orme, whose sound sits somewhere between post punk, gothic rock and dance punk, with heavy doses of electroclash and 90s and 2000s techno woven in. She took the name from a Shins album, which tells you something about her ear for a good reference. After years gigging at the Windmill in Brixton alongside acts like Black Country New Road and Goat Girl, she connected with producer Dan Carey over Instagram and signed to his Speedy Wunderground label in 2022. Her debut EP A Comforting Notion arrived in 2023, memorably packaged with a limited edition Airfix Spitfire model, and earned her support slots with the Kills and St Vincent. In February 2025 she released her debut album Glutton for Punishment, which picked up a five star review from NME. Orme cites the Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, PJ Harvey, Killing Joke and Nick Cave among her touchstones, and the records back that up.
