About
Hiqpy built a name for themselves on the festival circuit before releasing a single record, playing Rock Werchter, Into The Great Wide Open and Best Kept Secret without any album to their name. The Amsterdam band, fronted by Abira Hamam, eventually put out their debut album Slow Death Of A Good Girl, which Hamam described in an interview with HUMO as something you only get one shot at, so you might as well make it count. The record delivers on that ambition: fuzzy guitar rock with shoegaze influences and hooky pop melodies that feel layered and fully formed rather than tentative. Live, they take it even further.
