About
An Antwerp trio built around Anne Sophie Ooghe on vocals and guitar, Dieter Beerten on vocals and drums, and Koen Weverbergh on bass, High Hi started out with a hazy, shoegaze inspired sound before gradually sharpening it into something that balances introspection with genuinely catchy hooks. Support from M83 and BBC DJ Steve Lamacq helped put them on the map outside Belgium. Their 2020 breakthrough album Firepool, home to fan favourite Daggers, established the blueprint. Return to Dust followed in 2022, and the trio has since released Noonday Demon, continuing to push their sound while keeping the dancefloor in mind. Stages like Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop are familiar territory, and their live shows are known for being energetic enough that standing still feels like a missed opportunity.
