About
Hush were one of the loudest, glitteriest things on 1970s Australian TV. The Sydney glam rock four piece of Keith Lamb, Les Gock, Rick Lum and Chris 'Smiley' Pailthorpe turned a pair of oldies into proper hits: a rocked up take on Larry Williams' "Bony Moronie" hit number 4 in 1975, and their cover of the Dave Clark Five's "Glad All Over" reached number 8 the same year. Their Countdown appearances became the stuff of legend, all satin flares, stack heeled boots and peroxided streaks. They weren't just a covers act, though. "Walking", co written by Gock and Lamb, was their best performing original single, and albums like Get Rocked! (which climbed to number 9) and Rough Tough 'n' Ready kept them on the charts. They toured nationally and supported Status Quo, the Jackson Five and Alice Cooper before calling it a day in 1977. The classic lineup has reunited a few times since, including a spot on the Countdown Spectacular Tour in 2006.
