Few West Coast rappers had a run quite like Xzibit's in the early 2000s. The Detroit born MC built his rep through grinding underground work before Dr. Dre caught wind of him and took over as executive producer on Restless (2000), which moved close to two million copies and landed guest spots from Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Nate Dogg. That album pushed him into a different league, and the follow up Man vs. Machine (2002) hit number three on the Billboard 200. Beyond rap, he became a pop culture fixture hosting Pimp My Ride and later played Shyne Johnson across multiple seasons of the TV series Empire. Xzibit never really stepped away from the booth for long. He came back with Napalm in 2012, joined the hip hop supergroup Serial Killers in 2013, and lately has been putting out a steady stream of new tracks, including collaborations with Ice Cube, Compton AV, and Butch Cassidy. His sound stays firmly rooted in West Coast hardcore hip hop, and the output shows no signs of slowing down.
