About
Ignite have been a fixture in the hardcore punk world since forming in Orange County, California in 1993, blending punk rock influences into a sound that earned them serious credibility on the touring circuit long before wider audiences caught on. Their 2000 release A Place Called Home was the breakthrough moment, and it took until 2006 for a follow up, Our Darkest Days, to arrive on Abacus Recordings. Their lyrics have always carried a political edge, and the band actively supports organisations like Earth First!, Doctors Without Borders, Sea Shepherd and Pacific Wildlife. After a decade long run, longtime vocalist Zoli Téglás announced his departure in late 2019, eventually launching his own project Ocean Hills. Ignite took their time finding a replacement, finally revealing Eli Santana, guitarist of metal act Holy Grail, as their new frontman in September 2021. The new lineup wasted little time, putting out the track Anti Complicity Anthem alongside a remake of Turn, Turn XXI from the 1994 album Scarred For Life. A self titled album followed in 2022.
