Immanuel Wilkins is one of the most compelling young saxophonists in jazz right now, recording for Blue Note and building a serious catalogue in his mid twenties. His 2020 debut Omega announced him as a real voice, recorded alongside Micah Thomas, Daryl Johns, and Kweku Sumbry, and he followed it with The 7th Hand in 2022 and Blues Blood in 2024, the latter earning him a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Jazz Album. He leads his own quartet and has been a go to sideman for a sharp circle of artists, contributing to records by Johnathan Blake, Joel Ross, James Francies, and Kenny Barron among others. His live work at venues like The Jazz Gallery, Smoke, and Smalls built his reputation before he ever stepped into a major label studio, and that grounding in the club scene comes through in his playing.
