About
Jasper Høiby is a bassist, composer and bandleader whose reputation in contemporary jazz was largely shaped by Phronesis, the influential piano trio he co founded in 2005. That group redefined what a modern piano trio could do, and the same spirit of structure, risk taking and collective energy carries over into his own project, 3Elements. The trio brings together drummer Naíma Acuña and pianist Xavi Torres, with Høiby steering both the compositional direction and the interplay. Conversations of Hope is their third album together, and it shows a band that has grown comfortable pushing against the edges of the form while keeping the music grounded and communicative.
