About
John Talabot, the Barcelona based DJ and producer whose real name is Oriol Riverola, built his reputation on a sound that blurs the lines between deep house, techno and melodic electronic music. His 2012 debut album ƒIN on Permanent Vacation landed to serious critical praise, including a five star review from The Guardian, and helped launch him onto the international DJ circuit. He also runs the Hivern label, which he founded in 2008 and named after the Catalan word for winter, nurturing artists like Pional and Marvin and Guy alongside his own releases. Beyond solo work, Talabot has kept things interesting through collaborations. His project Talaboman with Swedish producer Axel Boman produced the double EP and LP The Night Land in 2017, growing out of a track they made together for his 2014 DJ Kicks mix. His 2016 track Voices even ended up soundtracking a Chanel Haute Couture campaign. Since 2018 he has hosted a monthly show on NTS Radio, keeping a steady presence in electronic music circles while hints of a second solo album continue to surface.
