Few artists have left a mark on Eurovision quite like Johnny Logan. Born Seán Patrick Michael Sherrard in Frankston, Australia, he went on to win the contest as a performer twice, in 1980 with "What's Another Year" and in 1987 with his own composition "Hold Me Now", and then added a third win in 1992 as the composer of Linda Martin's "Why Me?". That tally made him the most successful act in the contest's history, a status that held unchallenged for decades. His pop and ballad style translated well beyond the Eurovision stage. "What's Another Year" hit number one across eight countries, while "Hold Me Now" reached number two in the UK and became a global million seller. His 2007 album The Irish Connection went platinum in Denmark, twice platinum in Norway, and gold in Sweden, showing a fanbase that stayed loyal long after the spotlight moved on. Fans and media alike often call him Mr. Eurovision, and it is hard to argue.
