About
Also known as: Sandra Caldarone
Sandra Kim holds a record that still stands: she won Eurovision 1986 at just 13 years old, making her the youngest winner in the contest's history. Her winning song "J'aime la vie" famously claimed she was 15, which sparked a petition from Switzerland to have her disqualified. The petition failed, and she walked away with the trophy for Belgium. She also represented Belgium at the Yamaha Music Festival in Tokyo later that year and sang the theme for the French animated series Il était une fois... la vie. Decades on, she has kept herself firmly in the picture. Her 2011 album Make Up brought together songs written by some of Belgium's biggest names, including Salvatore Adamo, Ozark Henry and Dani Klein of Vaya Con Dios. She then won the first season of the Flemish version of The Masked Singer in 2020, performing as "Queen", and turned up as a guest judge on Drag Race Belgique in 2023. She still plays regular shows, both unplugged and with her full band.
