About
Jordan Rakei has built a reputation as one of the most quietly compelling figures in modern soul and alternative R&B, blending warm, introspective songwriting with production that feels lived in rather than slick. Born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, he made London his base in 2015 and hasn't looked back. Before his debut album Cloak even landed, he'd already picked up a Grammy nomination for his work on Disclosure's track "Masterpiece" and collaborated with the likes of FKJ and Tom Misch. Signing to Ninja Tune brought his 2017 album Wallflower to a wider audience, and it was shortlisted for Best Australian Album at the Australian Music Prize. His third album Origin followed in 2019, with a world tour that included a session for NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts. His fourth record, What We Call Life, landed in 2021 and he's described it as his most vulnerable work yet, shaped by the singer songwriter tradition of Laura Marling and Joni Mitchell. A fifth album, The Loop, arrived in May 2024.
