Julian Sas has been one of the Netherlands' most dedicated blues rock guitarists since his debut in 1996, building a catalogue of nearly 20 studio albums that draws deep from the well of Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Freddie King, and Peter Green. Gallagher is the key influence here, and Sas has actually shared stages with Gallagher's former bandmates Gerry McAvoy and Brendan O'Neill on tribute shows over the years. His 2016 album Coming Home was described by Sas himself as very personal, shaped by loss and the changing world around him, balancing energetic tracks against reflective ballads. More recently, Electracoustic on Cavalier Records took 12 original songs and recorded them twice over, once electric and once acoustic, making it a double album that shows just how much mileage Sas gets from his own material. The record was written in the shadow of losing bandmate and friend Fotis Anagnostou, giving the songs real weight.
