Few Eurovision acts have made as much noise as Käärijä, the Finnish rapper and singer born Jere Pöyhönen. His 2023 entry "Cha Cha Cha" landed him second place at Eurovision in Liverpool with 526 points overall, while he absolutely dominated the public vote with 376 points. The song topped charts in Finland, Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania, and made history as the first Finnish language track to crack the top ten of the UK Singles Chart. His wild stage presence, a signature yellow suit that usually ends up on the floor as he performs shirtless, and the "it's crazy, it's party" catchphrase turned him into a genuine phenomenon beyond the contest. Käärijä's sound pulls heavily from punk rap and has a big Rammstein influence, which he wears literally as a chest tattoo. He won Best Nordic Act at the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards and released his second studio album People's Champion in November 2024. In 2025 he teamed up with 2024 runner up Baby Lasagna for the joint single "#eurodab", debuted live at the Eurovision Grand Final in Basel in a stage setup styled like a fighting game, complete with healthbars.
