About
Kacey Musgraves has a knack for writing country music that gets under the skin of the genre's conventions rather than simply playing by them. Her major label debut, Same Trailer Different Park, won the Grammy for Best Country Album, and Rolling Stone placed its single "Follow Your Arrow" among the 100 Greatest Country Songs of All Time, calling her one of the loudest symbols of young country embracing progressive values. Golden Hour took things even further, sweeping all four of its Grammy nominations including Album of the Year, a rare feat for a country act. Star Crossed, her 2021 record, kept her in the top ten of the Billboard 200, and her feature on Zach Bryan's "I Remember Everything" hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100, earning her another Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. Her 2024 album Deeper Well peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, with its single "The Architect" winning Best Country Song. Eight Grammys in total and counting, Musgraves keeps finding ways to stretch what country can sound like without losing the thread of what makes it country.
