About
Kaz Hawkins won the European Blues Challenge in Denmark in 2017, representing the UK and beating 21 other countries. It was the first time a UK artist had taken that title. The Belfast born singer and songwriter spent two decades in cover bands before turning to her own material, and she now mixes blues, folk, jazz and soul on labels in France and Germany. Her catalogue includes studio albums like Get Ready, Feelin' Good and Until We Meet Again, plus live records and the anthology My Life And I, which won Best Album at the Innocent Award in Berlin. She has hosted her own blues show on BBC Radio Ulster, popped up on tracks with Craig Charles, Thomas Kahn and Eugène de Rastignac, and was named godmother of France's oldest blues festival in Cahors, sharing a bill with Christone "Kingfish" Ingram and Popa Chubby. A French documentary about her, My Life And You, is streaming online.
