Sharon Kovacs, performing as Kovacs, has built a reputation on a voice that critics have compared to Amy Winehouse, Portishead and Shirley Bassey. The Dutch soul and pop artist from Baarlo cites Betty Davis, Etta James and Tina Turner as her own touchstones, and you can hear all of that in the smoky, cinematic quality she brings to her songs. Her 2014 debut single My Love streamed over 19 million times and hit number one in Greece, while her first full album Shades Of Black went straight to the top of the Dutch charts. The follow up, Cheap Smell, landed in charts across Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands, with one reviewer coining the term "Eurosoul" for what she does. Her third album Child Of Sin arrived in January 2023, featuring a duet with Rammstein vocalist Till Lindemann on the title track, and debuted at number five in the Dutch Album Top 100.
