About
Also known as: Krisium
Three brothers from Ijuí, Brazil built one of death metal's most relentlessly brutal acts from the ground up. Krisiun, formed in 1990 by bassist and vocalist Alex Camargo alongside guitarist Moyses Kolesne and drummer Max Kolesne, started with a run of demos and a self released EP before landing on Century Media Records, where they spent decades hammering out a catalog that now stretches to twelve studio albums. Their sound draws heavily from the early aggression of Sodom, Kreator, Morbid Angel and Slayer, pushing tempos to extremes and pairing them with lyrics that pull no punches. The trio has toured relentlessly across North America, South America and Europe, sharing stages with bands like Nile, Immolation, Vader and Rotting Christ. Their 2008 album Southern Storm even threw in a cover of Sepultura's "Refuse/Resist", a nod to their Brazilian roots. They have kept the lineup tight, operating as a three piece since 1993, and that locked in chemistry is a big part of what makes them such a punishing live force.
