About
Part of the DMV rap scene and deep in the digicore and hyperpop corners of the internet, Kuru has been quietly building something genuinely interesting since first gaining traction on SoundCloud. Their 2024 debut album Re:Wired, put out through DeadAir Records, drew in production from fellow digicore figures like Jane Remover and twikipedia, with Pitchfork noting how fully Kuru leans into what it means to be a digicore producer. The 2025 mixtape Stay True Forever pushed things further, earning a writeup in Dazed that placed Kuru at the center of a new wave of digital rap. Their second album Backstage Hologram arrived in 2026, stacking features from Lucy Bedroque, Katmoji, and xaviersobased, with 8 bit inspired production woven through tracks that Pitchfork called playful and full of layered polyphony. Kuru is also a member of collectives TooManyStrikers, Helix Tears, and graveem1nd.
