About
Lauren Sanderson makes pop, R&B and hip hop that she uses as a platform, describing her music as a voice for people who struggle to speak for themselves. The Fort Wayne native built a fanbase online before anyone in the industry paid attention, releasing her debut EP Center of Expression independently in 2016 and following it up with Spaces in 2017, which hit No. 1 on the iTunes R&B albums chart and caught the ear of Epic Records. She signed with the label, moved to Los Angeles, and put out the six track EP Dont Panic! in 2018, a title she also has tattooed on her neck. After parting ways with Epic, Sanderson went independent again and released her debut album Midwest Kids Can Make It Big in January 2020, preceded by the single Hotel Room, which premiered on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show. A deluxe version followed later that year with seven previously unreleased tracks, and the single Frustrated landed on Billboard's cool new pop picks and Alt Press's artists to hear list. She keeps a tight grip on her own story.
