lots of hands & sundots

About

lots of hands is the project of Billy Woodhouse and Elliot Dryden, two friends based in Newcastle who spent years swapping demos remotely and releasing records separately before finally making something together. That joint record, 'into a pretty room', is built from reworked demos, instrumental electronics and whispered ballads that circle around grief, growing up and letting go. Gentle and quietly hopeful, it sounds exactly like what it is: two people who have been helping each other through life for a long time. Sundots is Drew Collins, who started the project in 2019 with a demo and a guitar he had only just figured out how to play. He has since gathered collaborators from the Connecticut DIY scene around him and developed a sound that pulls together freak folk, ambient, slowcore and indie rock. Lyrics spill out like unfiltered thoughts spoken aloud. His 2024 album 'Honeyspot' finds him reflecting on youth, love and imagination, and the whole thing still carries the loose, genuine feel of a bedroom project finding its feet.
