Beabadoobee built her entire career from a joke. When producer Oscar Lang was uploading her first ever song, "Coffee", he suggested she use an artist name, so she grabbed the handle she'd invented for a fake Instagram account because nothing else was being accepted. That offhand moment launched one of the more genuinely interesting voices in indie pop and bedroom pop. Her 2020 debut album Fake It Flowers drew wide critical praise, and a sample of "Coffee" ended up on Powfu's viral TikTok hit "Death Bed (Coffee for Your Head)", which went platinum in the US and UK and introduced her to an enormous audience almost by accident. Since then she has moved from strength to strength. Her second album Beatopia gave the world "The Perfect Pair", and her third, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, landed at number one on the UK Albums Chart, her first ever chart topper. She has toured as support for Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo and the 1975, and she has also linked up with Laufey on the track "A Night to Remember". Her sound pulls from 90s rock, lo fi and dream pop, and she makes it feel completely her own.
