Luke Slater has been one of UK techno's most restlessly prolific figures since the late 1980s, releasing music under more than ten different names across labels ranging from Peacefrog to Ostgut Ton. His two best known aliases are Planetary Assault Systems, a project rooted in hard, driving techno, and L.B. Dub Corp, which leans into darker, dub influenced territory. Under his own name he had genuine chart success with "All Exhale" and "Nothing at All", and the 2002 album Alright on Top was a deliberate detour into vocal driven dance songs, featuring singer Ricky Barrow of The Aloof. It was a sharp left turn from his usual sound, and he pretty much said so himself. In 2006 he launched his own imprint, Mote Evolver, keeping things independent and releasing limited vinyl alongside digital downloads. He also kicked off a podcast called The Spacestation in 2014, adding another outlet to an already sprawling catalogue.
