Luna Kills are a Finnish group from Kuopio who mix nu metal, electronics and alternative metal into something that genuinely resists easy comparison. Their debut album Deathmatch has the feel of a dystopian video game soundtrack, drawing loose comparisons to Spiritbox and Bring Me the Horizon while ultimately sounding like neither. A lot of that distinctiveness comes down to frontwoman Lotta, who moves between throat shredding fry screams, clean singing and rapping within a single song. Dynamics are clearly central to how the band builds its sound, swinging between extremes with enough control to make it feel intentional rather than chaotic.
