About
Also known as: Marcel Dettman
Marcel Dettmann is one of the names you hear whenever Berlin techno comes up, and for good reason: he's a resident DJ at Berghain. Before that, he spent a decade behind the counter at the Hard Wax record store, from 2002 to 2012, which is about as good a schooling in techno as you can get. His records have mostly landed on Ostgut Ton, including the albums Dettmann and Dettmann II, plus a run of singles and EPs, some of them alongside Ben Klock. He also runs his own label, MDR (Marcel Dettmann Records), and has remixed a wide spread of artists, from Ellen Allien and Modeselektor to Fever Ray and Moderat. He's put out a Fabric mix too, and in 2022 released the album Fear of Programming on Dekmantel. Away from the studio, he plays clubs and festivals all over Europe.
