Meral Polat wears a lot of hats: she has built a reputation as an actress in film and television, as a theatre maker, and as a singer in various musical projects. Her album Meydan sits at the heart of her music work, bringing together different cultures and time periods in a sound that mixes rhythmic, energetic rock and roll with stories about resistance, struggle and solidarity around women's rights. The record gives a voice to women charting their own course and celebrates female strength. On stage she performs with guitarist and keyboard player Chris Doyle.
