About
Few acts defined the electroclash sound more sharply than Miss Kittin. The French DJ and producer born Caroline Hervé built her reputation on a run of sharp, deadpan club tracks, starting with the 1998 EP Champagne she made with The Hacker, which gave the underground scene instant anthems in "1982" and "Frank Sinatra". Her knack for cool, witty vocal performances carried over into collaborations with Felix da Housecat, where "Silver Screen Shower Scene" cracked the UK Top 40 and "Madame Hollywood" hit the top twenty in Canada. Meanwhile "Rippin Kittin", made with Golden Boy, went all the way to number one on the UK Dance Chart after a public endorsement from Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys. Her solo output adds another dimension to the picture. Debut album I Com arrived in 2004, followed by BatBox in 2008, which found her flirting with gothic textures, and then Calling from the Stars in 2013. She has also worked alongside Chicks on Speed and contributed to Sven Väth projects, showing a restless appetite for collaboration that keeps her far more interesting than any single genre tag could suggest.
