About
Moses Boyd is the drummer who helped define the sound of the London jazz revival, blending jazz with grime, electronica, broken beat and Afrobeats into something that feels as at home in a club as it does on a stage. The Guardian called him 'a progenitor of the current London jazz scene', and his 2020 debut solo album Dark Matter backs that up, earning a Mercury Prize nomination and featuring tracks like Stranger Than Fiction and Shades Of You with Poppy Ajudha. Boyd runs his own label, Exodus Records, and leads the band Moses Boyd Exodus alongside Theon Cross, Binker Golding and others. His long running duo with saxophonist Binker Golding has picked up a MOBO Award, two Jazz FM Awards and a Parliamentary Jazz Award across three albums. He has also worked with Beyoncé, Little Simz, Floating Points and Four Tet, which gives you a sense of just how wide his reach goes. His influences run from Miles Davis to Dizzee Rascal, and that mix tells you everything.
