About
Mouth Ulcers are a London quartet working in the darker corners of post punk, drawing on the gothic and coldwave traditions associated with acts like The Cure and Bauhaus while pushing the sound somewhere fresher and more urgent. Atmospheric guitars, tribal percussion and a deep baritone voice are the building blocks, and the result has been described as music for vampires to dance to. It is moodier and more physical than the retro tag might suggest. The band made their live debut to sold out shows in the UK and the Netherlands, and a debut EP on Lab Records is expected to follow. They are part of a wave of underground acts rethinking what dark post punk can sound like right now, and early shows suggest they have arrived at something compelling remarkably quickly.
