About
Nessa Barrett got her start posting covers on TikTok, and that was enough to land her a deal with Warner Records. Her first single, the piano ballad "Pain", came out in 2020, and she followed it with "La Di Die", a track about the downsides of fame made with Jxdn and produced by Travis Barker. The pair played it on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Then "I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead" cracked the Billboard Hot 100, and her debut EP Pretty Poison arrived in 2021. Since then she has moved from alternative pop and pop rock toward something glossier. Young Forever (2022) and the EP Hell Is a Teenage Girl (2023) led to Aftercare in 2024, which leans into electropop and synthpop and features Tommy Genesis on "Disco". Her songs deal openly with mental health and loss, and she cites Arctic Monkeys, Lana Del Rey, Melanie Martinez and The Neighbourhood as influences.
