About
Also known as: John Michael Osbourne, John Osbourne, Osbourne, Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy Osborne, Ozzy Ozborne, Ozzy Ozbourne, オジー・オズボーン, 오지 오스본
Ozzy Osbourne fronted Black Sabbath, the band widely credited with inventing heavy metal thanks to low tuned guitars and dark, dramatic lyrics. Sabbath went into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, and their sound left a mark on countless bands that came after. He left the group in 1978 and built a solo career of his own, with albums like Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman becoming staples, backed by a reputation for gloriously eccentric live shows. He also reached a whole different audience through the reality series The Osbournes, which ran on MTV from 2002 to 2005 and put his family life on screen. Later work included a track featuring Eric Clapton, and he picked up two Grammys at the 2023 ceremony. Born John Michael Osbourne in Birmingham, he lived from 1948 to 2025.
