About
P.J.M. Bond is a Dutch songwriter who turns his love of American literature into songs. His debut album, In Our Time, from 2023, was built around Ernest Hemingway's 1925 short story collection of the same name, and it picked up praise at home and abroad for its themes and its mix of disciplines. The music drifts between folk, country and storytelling, in the spirit of classic Americana songwriters and the writers he admires. His follow up, Coyote (King of the Island), came out on the Excelsior label. It was recorded live and on the spot with a band of seasoned players from groups like Daryll Ann and Blaudzun, plus Douwe Bob's band, who heard the songs for the first time in the room. The result is raw, energetic and stripped of frills.
