Also known as: Nicolas Demuth
German producer Nicolas Demuth, who records as Parra for Cuva, built his sound around a restless curiosity: piano roots, jazz improvisation, hip hop textures and electronic production all feed into music that refuses to sit still in one genre. The breakthrough came with a 2013 cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" featuring Anna Naklab, which hit number 6 in the UK and charted across Europe, but the albums he has made since show a far broader range than that one track might suggest. His debut album Majouré set the template, blending electronic foundations with influences from classical and jazz, and each release has pushed further out. The 2021 album Juno brought in over 15 musicians, including collaborations with Bongeziwe Mabandla and Aukai. His fifth studio album Mimose draws from various cultures and landscapes, with standout track Stellar growing out of a trip to Corsica into a downtempo piece with dreamy vocals and a choir. A live set at Le Trianon in Paris in early 2025 shows he is very much still active.
