About
Maribou State, the London based duo of Chris Davids and Liam Ivory, make electronic music that sits somewhere between downtempo warmth and late night house, with a gift for turning that combination into something that feels genuinely song shaped. Signed to Ninja Tune's Counter Records, they built their reputation through a string of EPs and remixes for artists including Lana Del Rey and Fatboy Slim, before their 2015 debut album Portraits announced them as something more than a remix outfit. Kingdoms in Colour from 2018 was the record that really broadened their audience, landing at number 25 on the UK album charts and picking up BBC 6 Music Album of the Day. It featured a collab with Khruangbin on "Feel Good" and the standout track "Turnmills", a nod to the legendary London club. After a period away, they returned with their third album Hallucinating Love in early 2025, with long standing vocal collaborator Holly Walker among those featured.
