Pendulum built their reputation by doing something most drum and bass acts wouldn't dare: dragging the genre into full rock territory without losing the dancefloor energy. Formed in Perth, Australia, in 2002 by Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen and Paul Harding, they relocated to London and quickly found a devoted following in the UK. Their 2005 debut Hold Your Colour established them as a serious force, but it was the follow up In Silico and then Immersion that showed how far they were willing to push things, charting at number 2 in the UK and scoring a top 5 single with Watercolour. After going on hiatus in 2012 while Swire and McGrillen focused on Knife Party, Pendulum eventually came back and have kept releasing new material. The EPs Elemental and Anima kept fans fed, and in 2025 they dropped their fourth studio album Inertia, proving the band still has plenty left to say.
