About
Few rock bands can claim their career started with a video game, but Poets of the Fall got their first big break writing "Late Goodbye" for Max Payne 2 back in 2003, and that connection stuck. The Helsinki six piece have since written music for several Remedy Entertainment titles, including Alan Wake and Control, often recording under the alias Old Gods of Asgard in a considerably heavier style than their usual alternative rock sound. Their debut album Signs of Life went straight to number one in Finland and earned them a platinum certification, and their follow up Carnival of Rust repeated that feat. The video for "Carnival of Rust" became something of a phenomenon in Finland, winning the YLE Audience Choice Award for Best Finnish Music Video of All Time and picking up multiple Muuvi Awards. The band runs their own independent label, Insomniac, giving them full creative control over everything they release. With a catalogue stretching from polished pop rock to the dense, industrial textures of their game soundtrack work, Poets of the Fall have carved out a genuinely distinctive corner of Finnish rock.
