Polyphia built their reputation on jaw dropping guitar work, starting out with metalcore and shred heavy covers before evolving into something far harder to categorize. The Plano, Texas quartet, anchored by guitarists Tim Henson and Scott LePage, blends progressive rock with trap percussion, hip hop, EDM, funk, and even bubblegum pop and bossa nova. Their third album New Levels New Devils was their first to chart on the Billboard 200, and their fourth, Remember That You Will Die, debuted at number 33 in October 2022. That fourth record is a full showcase of how far they have pushed the sound, featuring appearances from guitar legend Steve Vai on the single Ego Death, as well as Sophia Black, Chino Moreno, and $NOT. Henson also has his own signature plugin through Neural DSP and two signature Ibanez guitars, which says a lot about how seriously the guitar world takes these guys. Their live album, Live at the Factory in Deep Ellum, recorded during the Remember That You Will Die tour, came out in late 2023.
