As a founding member and producer of Vampire Weekend, Rostam Batmanglij shaped some of the most distinctive indie pop of the late 2000s and early 2010s, including the band's debut and Contra, which hit number one on the Billboard 200. He shared Grammy wins for Modern Vampires of the City and earned another nomination as producer of Haim's Women in Music Pt. III. He left Vampire Weekend in 2016 to focus on solo work and has kept busy ever since. His debut solo album Half Light came out in 2017, preceded by singles like "Gwan" and "Bike Dream". Beyond his own releases, he has produced for Charli XCX and Hamilton Leithauser, scored films and TV for his brother Zal Batmanglij including The OA, and released music as part of the electro soul duo Discovery with Ra Ra Riot vocalist Wes Miles. His second solo album Changephobia followed in 2021, with the music video for "From The Back Of A Cab" showing the same ear for texture and melody that has run through everything he touches.
