About
Ruben Hoeke is a Dutch blues guitarist who has been leading his band since the mid 1990s, racking up eight albums along the way, from Sugar in 2006 through to the live record 30 Years Live in 2023. His playing earned him the title of best guitarist in the Netherlands, voted by fellow Dutch musicians in 2008, and his work stretches well beyond straight blues into folk, pop and rock through various side projects. He has toured alongside artists like Thé Lau and Jan Akkerman, and the Ruben Hoeke Band keeps a tight live presence, even capturing a full concert to tape at De Flux in Zaandam for that 2023 live release. Outside of performing, Hoeke runs guitar workshops, clinics and band coaching, and he has been involved in two notable charity drives: a fundraiser for an orphanage in Ecuador and a nationwide campaign called Geef een gitaar aan een Kind, through which he has collected and distributed over a thousand complete guitar sets to children with fewer opportunities, paired with free online lessons.
