Four British Blues Awards, including three straight wins for Young Artist of the Year, tell you a lot about where Laurence Jones stands in the UK blues scene. The English guitarist and singer songwriter is signed to Ruf Records, and his albums have taken him from recording in Lafayette, Louisiana with the likes of Mike Zito and Walter Trout, to playing Carnegie Hall in New York City. His blues rock sound sits firmly in the classic tradition, though his songs on What's It Gonna Be drew directly from his own experiences of life on the road. His second album Temptation was a real turning point, pulling in heavyweights like Yonrico Scott and Johnny Sansone and earning him serious attention across Europe as part of the Blues Caravan tour. Take Me High, produced by veteran Mike Vernon, followed in 2016 and showed Jones pushing his craft further. He has shared stages with Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Wishbone Ash and Vintage Trouble, building a reputation as one of the more consistent live acts in British blues rock.
