About
Eric Johanson is a New Orleans based blues rock guitarist and songwriter whose music sits somewhere between raw Delta grit and hard rock swagger. After years as a go to session player for the likes of Cyril Neville, Anders Osborne, and the Neville Brothers, he caught the ear of Tab Benoit, who signed him to Whiskey Bayou Records and produced his debut album Burn It Down in 2017. That record kicked off a run of releases that put him firmly on the map. Four of his albums have landed in the top ten of the Billboard Top Blues Albums Chart, including Below Sea Level, recorded in the North Mississippi hill country and produced by Luther Dickinson, and the double live album Live at DBA: New Orleans Bootleg. His 2023 release The Deep and the Dirty, produced by Jesse Dayton and released on Ruf Records, debuted at number one on the Billboard chart. Along the way he has shared stages at the Chicago Blues Festival, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and Byron Bay Bluesfest in Australia.
