Ruby Haunt may make slow, contemplative music, but the Los Angeles duo has been remarkably prolific since forming in 2015, releasing ten albums in that time. Their sound draws on eighties touchstones like New Order, The Cure and Cocteau Twins, filtered through a distinctly modern sensibility that keeps the result feeling current rather than nostalgic. Melancholy and restraint are recurring themes, placing them somewhere in the space between dream pop and slowcore. Fans of Nation of Language, Black Marble and Beach House tend to find a lot to love here. The band has also released a single called Big Room, and an album titled Paper Halo is part of their catalogue.
