About
Show Me the Body built their sound around one of punk's most unlikely weapons: a banjo. The New York trio, led by vocalist and banjoist Julian Cashwan Pratt alongside bassist Harlan Steed and drummer Nijol Benjamin, smashes hardcore punk into hip hop, sludge metal, and noise music, running it all through heavy effects and computer programming until it comes out the other side as something genuinely hard to categorize. Their 2019 album Dog Whistle, written in part under the influence of a visit to Auschwitz, shows the kind of conceptual weight they carry into their music. They have also built a wider creative ecosystem through their CORPUS collective, releasing compilation mixtapes and nurturing a community around the band beyond just club shows. The 2021 EP Survive, recorded during the pandemic, leaned into themes of isolation. More recently, a 2025 lyric video for a track called Spit features Princess Nokia, pointing to the rap crossover instincts that have always run through their work.
