TaxiTaxi are a three piece punk rock group from Groningen who perform in racing suits and treat every show like a demolition derby. Their songs are short, blunt and designed for maximum crowd participation, with titles like 'Wil je m'n VWO diploma zien' and 'Mensen praten' giving a taste of the absurdist social commentary threaded through their work. Sonically they land somewhere between the bruising brevity of Hang Youth and The Hives and the theatrical energy of The B 52's, with a boyband sense of spectacle thrown in for good measure. Live, TaxiTaxi pack their sets with humour and audience interaction, and their reputation as one of the most physically intense acts on the Dutch circuit grew rapidly. At Paaspop the crowd response was so intense the floor couldn't take the jumping.
