Born as a neo burlesque dance troupe in Los Angeles back in 1995, the Pussycat Dolls took a sharp left turn when music mogul Jimmy Iovine got involved and helped transform them into a full blown pop act signed to Interscope Records. The core recording lineup of Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton and Kimberly Wyatt hit massive commercial heights with singles like "Don't Cha", "Stickwitu" and "Buttons", plus their multi platinum debut album PCD in 2005. The group went on to sell 55 million records worldwide, cementing their place as one of the best selling girl groups ever. Their second album Doll Domination arrived in 2008, spawning hits including "When I Grow Up" and "I Hate This Part", but internal tensions over the spotlight going almost entirely to Scherzinger dogged the group throughout their run. They disbanded in 2010, briefly reunited in 2019, saw that reunion collapse by 2022, and have since returned as a trio of Roberts, Scherzinger and Wyatt.
